Pool Info

Pool Hours: TUESDAY – SUNDAY 8AM – 8PM
Parking lot gate open until 8 AM-9 PM during pool season; 8 AM-5 PM during off season

The pool opens for the 2023 season Tuesday, May 2nd.

MONDAY - CLOSED

The pool is closed on Mondays (except when a Monday falls on a holiday, in which case the pool is closed on Tuesday). This is to allow for cleaning of the pool and the pool area, including chemical treatments when it may be unsafe to be in the water. Absolutely NO ADMITTANCE is allowed on Mondays. The pool is locked on cleaning days.

Please remember there are no lifeguards on duty.  It is your responsibility to throw away trash and place furniture back where it belongs.  Please do your part to keep our pool area clean.

Access

An access card is required to enter the pool area.  If you need an access card, they can be purchased at the office of Chaparral Management - 6630 Cypresswood Dr., Spring 77379.  Access cards will be available Monday - Friday 9am - 12pm and 1:30pm - 4pm.  The cost is $10/card and a $10/household processing fee.  If you have not received cards before, the card fee will be waived and only the $10 processing fee will apply.  Chaparral Management accepts CASH ONLY for access card purchase.  The turnaround time for access cards to be activated is approximately 24 hours, please plan accordingly.

If you are delinquent with fees and fines, your access card to the pool will be deactivated until all payments are made.

The HOA is depending on self-regulation by our residents. If, however, certain residents disregard the rules, the HOA reserves the right to terminate their pool card access.

Safety

Pool users must read all posted signage prior to entering into the pool enclosure. The pool is SAYOR: Swim At Your Own Risk. Signage has been posted to address liability risk. Any resident who does not want to accept this risk should not use the pool.

Pool furniture will be available for use. Individuals may also bring their own towels, chairs, and similar pool accessories but chairs must have rubber or plastic feet – NO METAL FEET allowed because they will cause damage to the surface – costly repairs that YOUR dues will have to pay to fix!

Remember this is YOUR neighborhood pool that your dues pay for and let us keep it looking good and keep it clean. It would cost a fortune to commercially sanitize and hire gate monitors, but you as residents can do just as good of a job. We are responsible adults, and we can manage through this together. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Pool Security

Security cameras have recorded issues with people climbing the pool fence and then opening the gate from inside to allow others to enter, including nighttime activity.

The HOA has requested additional police patrols at night for the pool parking lot and pool area.

The HOA has implemented anti-climbing barriers at the pool. No physical barrier is 100% effective and we ask you to be security aware and to report issues to the police.

Please make sure the gate is closed behind you to prevent unauthorized access; note that mechanical improvements were installed at the gate, and it now automatically closes unless it is deliberately left ajar. Under no circumstances should you allow entry to people you do not know, as non-residents may ask to be allowed entry and then invite others soon after.

Residents should also be leery of opening the door for someone who has what looks like a pool card that doesn’t work. The pool card is a common badge access card type, for example the kind you would use on almost any work badge or electronic door, and if someone has a card that doesn’t work, it might not be a McKenzie Park card at all, but it will more easily trick residents into letting them in. Note that certain residents who are delinquent on dues have had their pool access turned off. There are occasionally problems where valid cards do not work due to a technical glitch, so conversely please don’t assume that if someone’s card isn’t working they are delinquent or trespassing.

Under no circumstances should anyone climb over the fence as this will be considered trespassing and it is a personal safety and injury liability risk due to injury risk of being impaled on the fence or breaking a limb or head injury onto concrete flooring during a fall. Residents who engage in this behavior or forced entry when closed will have pool privileges revoked for the season and the possibility of a fine up to $500 per the covenants. Non-residents caught climbing the fence will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

If you observe anyone climbing the fence, please call the constable immediately. If you observe people in the pool who are not residents or guests of residents you may call the constable to enforce trespassing (we suggest leaving the area while calling police to avoid confrontation).

Allow us to take care of the amenities so all may enjoy and be security aware.

Background Info

McKenzie Park has not had a lifeguard for 4+ years. Due to the additional cost of at least $30,000 for a full time lifeguard,  the requirement to have 2 lifeguards, the small size of our subdivision, and the limited use of the pool by residents, we do not have a full time lifeguard. There are nearby subdivisions which do not have lifeguards as well.

There have been requests to keep the pool open year round, however this is not cost justifiable. Each month the pool is open costs an additional $1,000 per month per the pool contract due to additional maintenance when in use. Previously, the pool was open in October but had very little usage (20 visits). Not many people will be swimming in November, December, January, etc. for an additional $1,000 per month. This would cost an additional $7,000 to keep the pool open in the winter months when almost no one is using the pool.
